I actually saw some San Beda College faculty members who are UP alumni who used the Sablay during the SBC commencement exercises. My sister is an alumna of SBC's College of Arts and Sciences.

It looks like UPLB has finally decided to switch towards using the Sablay during their commencement exercises. The UPLB University Council finally approved it, which means that this year's commencement exercises would be the last time that UPLB graduates would use the traditional graduation gown.

Do you have the basis to back up your claim?

To enlighten you, the University of the Philippines Diliman first used the Sablay as its OWN UNIQUE academic regalia in 1990. If you have also read this entry before commenting, you can see that the University owns the copyrights to the Sablay way back in September 2002. And according to comments from Lyceum of the Philippines students on that "viral" Facebook photo, they had only begun using their version of the Sablay this April.

So please, before accusing someone or a prestigious institution such as UP for apparent plagiarism, take a cue from Lourd de Veyra. GMG!

Hi, I graduated from UP Manila, and we used sablay in our college recognition while we used the typical toga and cap for the university commencement exercises. :)

The UP BAA Class 2011 which passed the CPA exams last October 2011 100% were proud to wear the sablay in their oathtaking ceremonies administered by PRC in Manila Hotel. As a father, I felt also proud to see all of them wear this costume as if to say "we belong to UP" the prime university in the Philippines.

actually UP Manila does use the Sablay during the college recognition program which we like to call "college graduation" or the "half-graduation". The other "half" of graduation is the "university graduation" and we wear the toga and cap
