UPD at NSTW 2017

The UP Diliman, through the Office of the Chancellor and the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Research and Development, will mount an exhibit at the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW), 11-15 July 2017, at the World Trade Center, Pasay City. Everyone is enjoined to visit the UPD booth that will feature seven research projects from various UPD departments and colleges.

We at the OVCRD promise to strive for the best way to present/exhibit groundbreaking UPD research projects. In addition to this year’s NSTW theme “Science for the People,” OVCRD integrates its guiding acronym iRISE in conceptualizing the overall look of the exhibit:

1.    Interdiscipline. Projects in the UPD exhibit is a product of inter-unit cooperation;
2.    Representation. The UPD exhibit is a representation of the UPD as premier research university and therefore should be presented/exhibited as groundbreaking, mass-oriented (exudes UP’s banner “service to the people”), and elegant;
3.    Investment. The UPD exhibit draws an average 3,000 visitors each year in the 5-day event. These visitors include students and teachers, families, industry representatives, and potential donors to the UPD who can augment the university research fund;
4.    Social media / Share. Given that the UPD has recently been much talked about in the news and the social media, the UPD exhibit at the NSTW can contribute in setting the public’s mind into the right academic and scholarly perspective. Also, on top of taking advantage of the social media to propagate UPD research, various media outfits can be requested to feature the UPD exhibit for added exposure via mass media;
5.    Exposure. The UPD exhibit will give research projects the opportunity to be disseminated to a general audience. Valuable insights from visitors shall also be collected by the exhibitors.
