The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Development (OVCRD) unveiled the “Creative Decisions” Photo Exhibit on 13 April 2012 at their Office at the Lower Ground Floor of the Philvocs Building in UP Diliman. The Opening Ceremony was led by Vice-Chancellor Benito Pacheco and his family, together with OVCRD Project Management Office Director Henry Ramos and Research Dissemination and Utilization Office Director Violeda Umali.

The Exhibit features the work of OVCRD staff who attended the point-and-shoot photography workshop conducted in the OVCRD last 27 March and 2 April 2012. Under the tutelage of UPD Film Institute Assistant Professor Jose C. Gutierrez III, the staff learned the rudiments of the art of photography. With the aid of numerous paintings and photographs, Mr. Gutierrez showed the participants how composition is the key to taking good pictures. Composition, the participants learned, is the sum total of a photographer’s creative decisions, and reflects his/her sensitivity to such details as lighting, proportions, and focal point. Mr. Gutierrez also gave pointers on how to enhance a picture’s composition using different camera settings and basic Photoshop features.

The photographs in the exhibit feature familiar and ‘ordinary’ subjects. “Creative Decisions” illustrates how thoughtful composition can transform even the most commonplace subject into a profound statement about life.

Please visit this site for an online view of the gallery.
